Leno Codino came to the United States from Arezzo, Italy in 1954, to study at the State University of New York as an exchange student. In 1961 he opened a small retail establishment with his wife, Teresa, where he made fresh, home-made pasta. Over the next 16 years, his business went from servicing his local customers, to servicing restaurants, delicatessens, pizza shops, distributors, supermarkets and wholesalers. In 1985 the company added a manufacturing division located in Scotia, New York, which included an inhouse laboratory for testing raw materials and research and development of new products. The original retail establishment was closed permanently in 1988, as manufacturing became the single focus of the company.

Leno Codino holds several patents for the development of a unique way to manufacture lasagna . His innovations have also resulted in the development of other new products and improvement of current products. His efforts have gotten him listed in Who's Who of American Inventors, as well as many business review periodicals.
